A set of four hand-thrown stoneware lidded canisters by Schlitter of Woodbury, Connecticut. Graduated in size and individually signed, the vessels are finished in warm cream and ochre glazes.

The canisters were originally owned by the Dalton-Morris family and used at Stillman House I, their family home and Marcel Breuer’s celebrated modernist residence in Litchfield, Connecticut. Mrs. Dalton-Morris was a co-founder of the Litchfield Craft Fair, reflecting the family’s close connection to the region’s community of artists and craftspeople.

The set remained with the family after they sold Stillman I in 1985 and is now offered as part of the Stillman Collection at GEORGE.
