A set of four nesting stoneware bowls by Connecticut potter Bob Parrott, who has been producing functional pottery since 1971. Influenced by the pottery traditions of America, England and Japan, Parrott’s work combines simple, functional forms with richly expressive glazes.

The bowls were purchased by the Dalton-Morris family at the Litchfield Craft Fair, which Mrs. Dalton-Morris co-founded, and were used at Stillman House I, Marcel Breuer’s celebrated modernist residence in Litchfield, Connecticut. Completed in 1950, Stillman I is an important example of Breuer’s early residential work in America and became a remarkable setting for the family’s collection of modern design, antiques, and contemporary craft.

The set remained with the family after they sold Stillman I in 1985 and is now offered as part of the Stillman Collection at GEORGE.
