Hand turned wooden bowl by local CT artist Kai Kuwata

Dimensions: 4.5" W x x 4.5"D x 2.5" H

Yakisugi is a technique of charring the outside of the wood as a way of weatherproofing and protecting from termites. The technique stems from it's use in ancient Japanese architecture.

Care instructions: The bowl has already been treated with multiple coats of Howard's Butcher Block Conditioner, which is vegan, natural, and food safe. Hand wash with a damp cloth, or rinse with water if necessary. Repeated washing, or washing with soap, will reduce the surface finish of the wood. Maintain the wood with a natural wood balm or oil (such as Howard's), linseed oil, or mineral oil.
