Designed by Harry Bertoia for Knoll in 1952, the Bertoia Side Chair transformed industrial wire mesh into an elegant, sculptural form and became an icon of postwar modernist design.

This set of six, dating to the 1960s, was originally purchased for Stillman I I in Litchfield, Connecticut, designed by Marcel Breuer. The chairs were used around the house’s outdoor slate dining table, which Breuer based on a table he had designed for his own home in Wellfleet, Massachusetts.

The chairs, many with the original labels intact, retain their original orange leather seat pads.
